Noh Theater Poster Workshop 2021
Noh Theater Poster Workshop 2021
At the Kanze Noh Theatre every year8Last month, we held a workshop where students from Tama Art University watched a performance of "Ariso Noh" and then created poster artwork based on it. In 2021, the "Kanze-kai Ariso Noh" performance was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but this year we will continue to hold the workshop. We hope everyone watching will enjoy this project.
This project began in 2011. Now, what kind of impressions will this year's collection of works leave on you? If, after viewing the works, you develop even a little interest in Noh theater, it will be a great encouragement to the students who participated in this initiative.
I became interested in Noh theater after seeing that poster.——We are also looking forward to meeting as many such people as possible at the Noh theater.
At Tama Art University's Department of Graphic Design, I am in charge of the third-year specialized course "Graphic Design".Students enrolled in BI (formerly "Visual Language Design - I" before 2016) have been taking the summer course since 2011."Kanze-kai Ariso Noh"After watching the performance, I continued creating posters with "Noh" as the theme, with the cooperation of the General Incorporated Association Kanze-kai.I have come.
The students, who were able to directly experience Noh, one of Japan's cultural traditions with a 700-year history, will gain invaluable experience for their future.I feel fortunate to have had this opportunity.
Unfortunately, this year's Ariso Noh performance has been canceled due to the impact of COVID-19.
As in previous years, the students researched Noh theater as their summer assignment and worked on poster designs, each feeling a sense of accomplishment. We achieved results.
And thanks to Kanze-kai's consideration, the student works from 2021 will also be archived on the website, as in previous years.Thank you very much for accepting this.
Thank you for your thoughtfulness.

On a personal note, I will be retiring from Tama Art University at the end of the 2021 academic year.
This project, which has lasted for exactly 10 years, has now been brought to a close.
Thank you very much for your support over the years.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone at Kanze-kai for giving me this valuable opportunity.
