Kanze Inari Shrine, Kyoto
This land was originally the site of the Kanze family's residence. According to tradition, it was bestowed upon Kan'ami (Zeami's father), also known as Kanze (Yuzaki) Saburo Seiji, of Yamato Sarugaku by Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, the third shogun of the Muromachi shogunate, and the family lived there until the ninth Kanze Taifu, Kuroyuki.
The place name Kanze-cho still exists today and is located next to Nishijin Central Elementary School.

Kanze Inari Shrine was formerly the guardian shrine of the Kanze family, and its enshrined deities are Hitotsuku Inari Daimyojin and Kanze Ryuo.

Kanze Water
Next to the Inari shrine is a well called "Kanze-i" or "Kanze-sui," and according to legend, when the sky suddenly becomes overcast, a dragon descends and enters this well, causing the water's surface to constantly ripple. It is said that this is the origin of the "Kanze-sui" pattern found on Noh fans and Noh play scrolls.
